HIIT or Be Fit. The What and Why of HIIT Training.

High Intensity Interval Training.  AKA HIIT

What is it? Why should you do it?

I’ve got a 30 day challenge that will change your body!

What is HIIT?

High Intensity Interval Training is repeated short intervals of high-intensity exercise with periods of lower intensity intervals of active recovery.

Basically, you work really hard for a short period of time and then rest briefly and repeat. The intervals can vary.

My HIIT or Be Fit workouts are 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest. You can do the same exercise the entire time for 8 rounds. I choose to do 2 different exercises back to back to void boredom.

In my videos, I provide modifications for beginners to advanced exercisers. The point is to challenge yourself for just a few minutes each day.

Benefits of HIIT

The biggest reason people are doing HIIT is that you can burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time.

Another big one is that several studies have shown that HIIT can increase your metabolic rate for hours after exercise.

According to the American College of Sports Medicine, HIIT training has been shown to improve:
aerobic and anaerobic fitness
blood pressure
cardiovascular health
insulin sensitivity (which helps the exercising
muscles more readily use glucose for fuel to
make energy)
cholesterol profiles
abdominal fat and body weight while
maintaining muscle mass

The reason it has become so popular is that people are busy. With HIIT, you can work really hard in a short amount of time and get results.

How Often Should you Do HIIT?

Well, that depends on what you are doing and the duration of your workouts. If you are doing 20 or more minute hard core HIIT sessions then 2-3 times per week is recommended.

But I am asking you to join me for just 4-8 minutes almost every day for a month.

Are you in?

You can print the calendar HERE

But you’ll need to follow me on Facebook or YouTube to get the workouts!
