Recently an Esthetician looked at my face and told me that it was clear that I drink a lot of water. I asked her how she knew and she told me that my skin was very well hydrated, that I had a lot of collagen and elasticity. She told me to tell my clients that drinking adequate water will help prevent wrinkles. Woohoo!
Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body. Collagen starts to break down as we age which causes your skin to become saggy and loose.
You can naturally slow down the loss of collagen a number of ways from taking supplements to plastic surgery. But I suggest starting with your food.
Threonine is an important amino acid (protein) that is found in many beauty products to support elasticity in your skin. It is also found in foods such as lentils, peanuts, eggs, milk, pork, beef and chicken, soybeans, chickpeas, hummus, snap beans and asparagus.
I’ve looked all over the internet and there are a lot of articles stating that the water you drink is absorbed by other organs before the skin so it is important to also apply water to your skin (via a moisturizer).
I only moisturize with pure, organic coconut oil. I drink loads of water. I guess somehow it is working for me.
The bottom line is that your body needs water to function properly and to rid itself of toxins. I am not telling you to over hydrate. But I am encouraging you to make sure that you are drinking the appropriate amount of water for your body.
It is a lot cheaper than fancy beauty products and far less painful than surgery.
