It’s Fitness Fad Friday where I keep you update on fitness trends so you can most likely avoid them 🙂
- Waist Trainers – The idea is to constrict the core for hours at a time to slim the waistline (you basically wear a corset).
Seriously? Kim Kardashian is all about it so that alone should tell you it is BS. There is no evidence that supports the claims that waist trainers increase fat loss and muscle building in your abdominals. In fact, with all of the superficial support the corset is giving you may decrease your abdominal strength.
I wore a very tight corset for a play I was in back in my actor days and let me tell you, it wasn’t fun. I wasn’t over weight, it was to stay true to the period of time the play took place in. I could barely breath, was constantly dizzy and passed out twice throughout the run of the show. I didn’t lose weight. I didn’t change shape. But hey, that is just my experience.
If you want to wear a corset for fun – go for it and make sure it isn’t too restrictive. If you want to lose weight or slim your waistline, you are going to have to work for it. SORRY.
- REALITY CHECK
I used to teach a lot of spin classes and people can certainly get hooked on the sweaty workout set to loud, motivating music. however, this is a little cray cray.
Hollywood Cycle – a new reality show featuring current Cycle House Instructors and also new trainees competing to become the next Cycle House Instructor. You will not lose weight while watching this show though you may lose some brain cells…
Just my opinions. If you’ve tried the waist trainer please share your experience by commenting below. I’d love to hear your thoughts so please share them.
