Are you about to partake in a triathlon of a different sort this Thursday? First leg, appetizers and cocktails. Next you peddle through the Turkey, 2 different types of stuffing, potatoes mashed, pied and cheesed, casseroles, sauces and maybe a vegetable covered in butter, cheese, bread and onion straws. Then you run as fast as you can through the pies, cobblers and cookies. As you cross the finish line, exhausted from your efforts, you pass out on the couch to recover and perhaps prepare for round two. I am NOT saying you shouldn’t indulge but do take some time to enjoy what you are putting in your mouth. It isn’t a race. Eat slowly, enjoy the food and take a moment to be grateful. I am so grateful for all of you that I’ve got a little workout for you to do that will burn some body fat, build some muscle and help you let out some stress. Plus a holiday gift idea for you or someone on your list.
If you are looking for a fun fitness gift for someone or you are looking for a new piece of equipment to add to your repertoire, you may want to check out a BOSU Ball. BOSU originally stood for “Both Sides Up,” meaning you can use either the flat or the rounded side during your workout. (BOSU has come to mean “Both Sides Utilized.”). It has a flat platform on one side and a rubber dome on the other (resembling half an exercise ball). Due to its unstable surface, it adds intensity to your workouts, requiring you to engage your core muscles in order to maintain balance.
In the workout below I use a BOSU Ball to demonstrate some exercises you can do with the BOSU Ball but you do not need a BOSU Ball to do this workout. As always, modify when needed and go at your own pace. I apologize for the little man who I am scolding during the workout 😉
