Do you get on the scale multiple times per day and wonder how you can gain 2lbs between 7am and 6pm? First,GET OFF THE SCALE. Why in the world would you enslave yourself to such a horrible thing? I am not saying never get on the scale but every day? Not helpful to your weight loss endeavors.

So how can it be that you can gain a few lbs in a single day? Water. 

Your body weight is about 60 % water. Water is needed for so many bodily functions that even mild dehydration can leave you feeling sluggish. Most of us do not drink enough water. A general rule is take your body weight and divide it in half and that is approximately the # of oz. of water you should drink each day. Now drinking that much water can up your weight a few lbs in one day and it will be reflected on the scale (best to weigh yourself 1st thing in the am but not every day!!!). BUT you will also typically lose the water weight within a 24 hour cycle as it is used.

For weight loss, water is key. It is a hunger suppressant (often we think we are hungry but we are actually thirsty). Once your body recognizes that it is regularly getting enough water, retained water will be released from cells and you will see the scale move in a more favorable direction. If you are tired in the afternoon, try drinking water rather than soda or another cup of coffee. Your body is probably lacking in water which means you will be lacking in energy.

I know I’ve blogged about water before but I still see so many people who think that drinking a few cups of water a day is enough. Also, it truly is a must when you are trying to lose weight.
