By now we have all heard of Shape Ups and Easy Tone shoes and even the Easy Tone clothing line that is designed to provide resistance while you move. But will the investment guarantee the results you are looking for? Most likely not. Ever hear of the miracle bra? The bra takes an A cup and creates the illusion of a C cup. But when you take the bra off, well let’s just say no miracle has been performed.
The makers of these shoes and clothing stand by their product stating that studies (funded by them) have shown that they do produce results. Independent studies, however, show that there is no difference walking in these shoes compared to regular sneaker.
Let me break it down for you. You put on a shoe and suddenly you are in the best shape of your life. Really? Let me remind you that you have to actually move to make the shoe perform its magic and that it is actually the moving that will give you results. The shoes are sort of designed to simulate a step so I believe it would be similar-ish to going up stairs. Except you are not engaging your quads or core as you would to climb steps so I really don’t see the benefit.
If you haven’t realized it yet – there is no quick fix, magic pill, magic sneakers, magic diet to get the results you want. If you want results, you have to do the work to get them. I know being lazy is so much easier but how has that worked for you so far?
I will say one thing. If wearing the magic shoes gives you the courage to climb the beanstalk, then by all means spend the $ and wear them. But you could just wear your comfortable sneakers and take a walk, do some squats, lunges, etc and actually get results.
