Permission, PERMISSION!

Permission, PERMISSION!

(The above title is to be sung to the tune “tradition, TRADITION!” from Fiddler on the Roof. )

I know you are busy. I know that you’ve got a million things to do and all of these people counting on you to get them done. But lets just pause for one moment. Who is taking care of YOU? Remember the saying “If mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy.”

Put down the guilt and pick up your feet.

It is time to stop feeling selfish about taking a little time to focus on your own well being.Health is not a luxury but a necessity.

Give yourself permission to take care of yourself each and every day – no matter how much time you have. Stop right there- I hear you and all of your excuses. They are just minor obstacles that you can easily overcome with a little creativity. Start small – 30 seconds here and there, lunging across the room to give your child a sandwich, squatting when picking up toys.

**Sample 30 secs: run or walk up and down stairs, 30 secs triceps dips off bottom step, 30 secs push-ups off bottom step, 30 secs hip lifts with heels on the bottom step. Repeat. **

Involve your family! Challenge your kids to a push up contest, jumping rope, sit ups – whatever you can think of. Run around with your dog. Do it for you, do it for your family. Just DO IT.
